Within walking distance to groceries, restaurants and all the action on Front St. Every morning we would have breakfast on the lanai and watch the whales and turtles! The unit itself is very nice, the new kitchen is great (especially for those who like to cook). We were there for 14 nights and we slept in the murphy bed every day so we could fall asleep to the sound of the ocean. We didn't even make it to the master bedroom (which by the way is also very nice). I couldn't recommend a better place to say, we can't wait to go back! Thanks for everythingCory Loreth |

| Rebecca Page on 2011-12-06 09:05:33 Kaysville UT The location of this rental was great. We were within walking distance of the farmer's market, video rental store, grocery store and gift shops. The ABC market had some great souvenirs that actually were just as well priced as the swap meet we drove over to on Saturday on the other side of the island. Snorkel Bob's, also within walking distance, was very helpful and supplied us with great equipment for the week. We had contacts through friends at home to set up activities; however, Andreas with Tom's Barefoot Tours was able to get us the best price on all the activies we wanted to do: zipline, Luau, biking, etc. The condo on the ground floor was great with kids....easy access in and out to get to the pool and beach. I would probably stay higher up if it was just adults trying to relax. Stopping at Costco and WalMart when we first arrived saved us a lot on food. The grills at the pool were great and we used them several times. Thanks Jan! |

| karen edwards on 2011-11-01 14:21:16 chemainus canada my boyfriend and i stayed in Jan's condo at papakea for 10 days, and it more than met our expectations! the condo was stocked with MORE than we needed on our trip as far as kitchen utensils, toiletries, beach towels etc etc.. this all IN ADDITION to being able to access all of papakea's amenities! we would like to thank jan for being so available and accomodating you truly made it feel like we were "borrowing" the condo from a friend =) and we hope to return in the future with our children. |

The condo was very clean, well stocked and offered GREAT sunsets. Papakea is within 5 miles of the BEST Maui snorkeling spots, grocery stores, banks and snorkel rental within walking distance, and yes McDonalds ( for little kids ) and yet out of the crowded mob areas. Papakea has very well manicured lawns and offers and abundance of cook out grills. If you want to save money and still have a great place, Papakea is for you. Mahalo |

Your 2bdrm condo was the perfect set up. my daughter loved the loft and had a blast on the spiral stairs. She felt like she had her own privacy. The master bedroom was perfect for my husband and myself. Thank you so much for all the toys for my daughter that were in the condo. Everything was clean and easy to find. The Ohana had just as gorgeous views as the Ocean Cottage and was perfect for just the two of us! I think we literally spent at least 4 days just "being" and not going or doing anything but sitting on the front lanai enjoying the sweeping view of the ocean, Lahaina, Lana'i and Moloka'i. When the sun warmed up the front of the cottage in the afternoon we moved to the rear lanai and enjoyed watching the light play off of the beautiful West Maui Mountains! We truly feel blessed to have been so lucky to have found this wonderful piece of paradise away from the crowds and tourist areas. Marty and I can't wait to come back and be your guests again. We just relaxed and enjoyed the view from the lanai waking up each morning for the sunrise and returning in the evening for a beautiful sunset. And there was the full moon the first night.The trade winds provided a breeze to keep the place cool. We ate many of our meals at home and could invite family to come by and have dinner grilled outside. Everything in the apartment was comfortable and in good shape. I would definitely recommend the Ohana or any place in that West Maui area. It is convenient, close to a nice beach(es) and a quick drive into LaHaina or further North, |

At the end of each day, the kids couldn't wait to "go home"! I used to live in Lahaina 23 years ago and how nice it was to be welcomed back to this beautiful place by staying in such wonderful accommodations. I had been bragging about Maui for years to my husband, who I finally got out there after a year in Kuwait... He agrees - Maui No Ka Oi!!! We loved the view and the fact that we felt as we lived there instead of being tourists. As others have said - perfect spot... close enough to town but far removed from the crazed tourism of "hotel row" in Kaanapali. The views from the wrap around porch and every room are magnificent. The cottage is exactly as portrayed in the VRBO photos and was neat and clean upon our arrival. We loved the privacy of the location and it was amazing to actually "live" in a very upscale Lahaina neighborhood. Within a day we had our routine down, breakfast on the deck, pack a picnic lunch, visit and relax at a different beach every day, then home to refresh ourselves and off to dinner at one of the many in town or barbeque at "home." We wish we could afford to never leave and will definitely rent a West Maui Cottage on our next trip to Maui. Thanks Jan for your kind hospitality. |

The view is second to none, the beds are extremely comfortable, the cottage is very spacious and kept immaculate. It had absolutely everything we could possible need, cooler, beach chairs, beach towels, blender, amazing sunsets.. you name it! To be able to sit on the lanai and watch the whales was something that I have never done before. It was a truly beautiful, comfortable and convenient place to stay outside busy Lahaina. Just the right distance for daily/evening activity, but out of the main stream. We loved whale watching from the deck, the crazy birds and lovely flowers, as well as viewing the fabulous rainbows over the mountains several times daily. We did do some sightseeing and touring Maui and our son took some scuba trips, but the best was just enjoying the views and solitude from the cottage. What a fabulous treat you have there! I USUALLY DO NOT CHOOSE TO JUST SIT AROUND MUCH AS I ENJOY BEING BUSY DOING THE BEACHES, SIGHTSEEING AND SO ON BUT ON THIS PARTICULAR VACATION I FOUND THAT FOR A FEW OF THE DAYS I WAS VERY CONTENT TO SIT AND ENJOY THE VIEW AND THE SUN ON THE DECK, BBQ A COUPLES OF MEALS AND JUST SIMPLY RELAX. | Gwen on 2011-04-02 07:34:08 ALOHA JAN – We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Maui, and most especially the 3 weeks we spent at your 2B, 2B cottage. It was an ideal place for us to come home to every evening after a busy day AND relax on the deck, barb-b-q, watch the sun set right in front of us over the ocean! It was very neat to see the cruise ships lit up at night & the lights in Lahaina from the deck. We really liked the big kitchen (farm style) and rooms. AND to relax & enjoy the Jacuzzi tub each evening before bed was a special treat for me. AND then to wake up to the sound of birds singing and walk out onto the Lanai with its expansive ocean view & read, eat breakfast and then go for a morning walk in the hills, which we loved. We thank Dale for helping us get booked into any tour our hearts desired, and I can’t thank Marilyn enough for taking us hiking into the Launiupoko Valley behind us. The valley behind us was so beautiful & we had a rainbow almost every day! If we ever return, we would definitely stay there again, as I just can’t say enough good things about it. We were blessed to be able to stay for a whole month at the 2 bedroom west Maui cottage. Everything we needed was there, including wonderful neighbors (Dale and Marilyn). We loved the neighborhood and loved the feeling of privacy that you don't get in a condo...but it was also nice to be so close to Lahaina. It was a good size for us, allowing us to be together, but still have private bedrooms and bathrooms. The kitchen is very well equipped allowing us to visit the local farmers market and prepare many of our meals ourselves, enjoying the fresh pineapple, banana bread and hawaiian coffee. We cooked in the kitchen, or frequently BBQ'd on the deck. Breakfast every morning on the deck, made with farm fresh eggs from Jan's neighbors, then off exploring and returning just in time to watch a beautiful sunset. For a family who doesn't want to do the crowded condo-thing, this is absolutely perfect. Conveniently located, well-stocked, and Jan made sure everything was in good order. I have already recommended the place to friends, and plan to come back ourselves. Thank you Jan! Oh, I should mention we've been home for about two weeks now. I had been to Kauai a more than a dozen trips, and Maui is the new destination of choice, especially knowing this is a such a beautiful place to stay! We were there during the full moon and saw a moonbow from the mountain side of the lanai at night (if you google moonbow you can see more info - I had never heard of it!). The lack of light polution does make the stars extra intense. Taking all that in after the beautiful sunsets was very satisfying.I especially loved how the kitchen was open to the dining and living area, so when we didn't eat out at fabulous restaruants like Sansei, MaLa, and the Plantation House we had an open environment for interaction while I cooked which made it even more enjoyable! In addition to all this was the easy communication with Jan - it felt like renting from Ohana! Nice personal interaction with that genuine spirit of Aloha. We all had a great experience. The 2 bed cottage had everything we could possible need and we loved the wrap around deck with views of Water and Mountains. The furnishings inside and out were very nice. One of our favorite things was waking up to the many exotic sounds of birds blending with the quite. We were close to town if we needed but we quickly learned the quiet was soothing our senses. The wrap around porch with the view of the water and the valley was breath taking every time we gazed outside. The wrap around porch truly gave us more space to move about. We ate all of our meals outside-thanks for providing a grill and the patio furniture- it was a perfect set-up. We loved having a massage on the porch with the valley as the backdrop- truly paradise. We only used the tv for background music-thanks for having satellite in case one of the kids got restless....we were very impressed with the neigborhood- as it was so well cared for and quiet. We did not want the hustle and bustle of the city but our drive was still on 5 minutes from Lahaina when we wanted the little city. After 4 days in a condo in hectic Kihei, this cottage was such a welcome change. It's large and roomy and totally private. It is fully stocked and clean. We took advantage of using the coolers, beach chairs and barbeque quite often.The views are spectacular everywhere you look. We were lucky enough to have a full moon during our stay and to seeing it shining off the water at 3 in the morning was spectacular. | Kim on 2011-03-31 05:30:12 We spent 6 nights at the Palm House on Oct. 27- Nov.2. It was wonderful. We enjoyed the peacefulness and location. The house was very large for 2 people. 2 couples could easily share this house and have plenty of privacy. It was about a 5 minute drive to Lahaina.I had an opportunity to see the 1 bedroom unit. It was wonderful. The lanai off the bedroom was very private. This was a short notice trip. Jan was very accommodating, making sure we had all of the information we needed in a short amount of time. She was always available to answer any questions. She even called to make sure we arrived safely and had everything we needed. I enjoyed sitting out on the deck watching the cruise ships arrive in the wee hours of the morning. I also loved sitting on the front porch watching the sun crest over the mountains. The views are fabulous from every room of the house! We are looking forward to our return trip to the Palm House in 2008. Kim |

No crowds, close to shopping, restaurants, beaches and Lahaina. The view of the harbor was great, sailboats coming and going, saw turtles everyday and had a few spectacular sunsets. We recommend the Ocean Center, Atlantis Submarine ride and the Road to Hana is a must! Jim even went Paragliding. We did our activities the beginning of our two week vacation and spent the last couple of days lounging around the pool and had a couple of BBQ's at the patio. The snorkeling right out front is great; better than any of the snorkeling spots you pay to be taken to. Mala warf is only a couple blocks away & the snorkeling is very good there also. As well, the local mall with the grocery store was a 3 minute walk.The unit itself was great as well. It came equipped with everything you needed (i.e. beach chairs, cooler, and all the kitchen gadgets). The unit has a great view of the ocean and the sunsets are amazing to watch directly from your private balcony. We we cooked our own meals we always ate on the balcony. As well, the unit was nice and modern and is well maintained. Jan was also very helpful. She called us on our first day to ensure we had everything we needed which was a nice touch! It was the little things we really appreciated: the kitchen was well-stocked and there were many beach towels, coolers, etc. The location is great with a lovely view of both the garden below and the ocean, and amenities are closeby - there's even a health food store just 5 minutes away.
