Aloha Jan, I enjoyed the condo from Oct 24 to Nov 3, 2008. It was the little things we really appreciated: the kitchen was well-stocked and there were many beach towels, coolers, etc. The location is great with a lovely view of both the garden below and the ocean, and amenities are closeby - there's even a health food store just 5 minutes away. Thanks for sharing J104 with us! The prompt attention when we needed help was greatly appreciated! We found the whole complex to our liking and we made good use of the barb-b-ques. Your tips and hints about getting good value for our money were excellent. We loved the Craft Fair( by the Post Office)and shopping Costco was a real saving. We also shopped Star Market and found good sales as well as friendly people. We are passing these hints to friends who will be in Maui later this month.
When the weather is miserable here we just have to picture the beautiful grounds at Papakea and imagine we can see the birds trying to catch fish in the pond. The condo was private and very quiet so we arrived home well rested and looking forward to visiting again.

What a comfortable place and beautiful surroundings. On the ground level, it made it easy to access through the front and the lanai. The pond was just outside and it was just a few steps to the pool, grills and ocean. A beautiful sunset awaits just outside the door. This had by far the best equipped kitchen we've ever had in any condo we have ever stayed in before. Papakea is a great place and having Expedia right there made it very easy to purchase tickets for the many tours we wanted to take. We would definitely stay there again.

My family truly enjoyed our stay in J104. The layout of the unit was quite suitable for my husband and me and our 2 adult sons. The property was beautiful and clean. Jan's "to do" list was so helpful...she really goes above and beyond to make sure her quests have everything they need. We took advantage of some of the suggested local things to do. The Arts and Crafts fair at the Civic Center was fabulous....don't be fooled by the name because it's a display of fine artisans, not your run of the mill craft fair.
The strip mall across the street from Papakea was so convenient...and Java Jazz was probably our favorite restaurant...we ate dinner there twice, and got our lattes there every morning. Star Market has great fresh food, wine, upscale items, and everything else we wanted.
We loved the location as we felt we were close to almost all the places we frequented (Front Street, Black Rock Beach to name a few)
We highly recommend Unit J104, and thank Jan for her attention to detail with all the amenites she provides. We will definitely plan to stay there again.

Jan, we two couples were quite hesitant about booking a condo on-line, but were very pleased with our stay at J-104. We especially appreciated how well furnished it was for us with cooking and baking utensils, all the dishes we could need, and a closet stocked with a few golf clubs, beach umbrella, many towels, swim boards and toys. We especially appreciated having laundry facilities right within our condo. We didn't need/use any A/C the week we were there, but it was great to know it was available. The location was excellent for us; a real central location between scheduled activities in Lahaina, and our daughter's wedding on Kapalua. My sister enjoyed the pool and yogacize classes, and my husband and I loved walking the beach in the early morning. This is not a fancy place, but it is clean and convenient. We'd come back!

We just returned from a 5 night stay in Jan's A-203 condo and have to say that it was just what the doctor ordered. As others have stated on this comments page, the sound of the ocean is awesome to fall asleep to. The condo location was great, the unit was clean and convenient and yes, the murphy bed was very comfortable too! Check in and check out was a breeze and Jan was a pleasure to work with...we would definitely consider this condo for a future visit...which can't be too soon!

We had a great stay in Jan's unit. Sooo close to the ocean, great view (facing west for great sunsets). Very clean and just right for my new wife and me on our honeymoon. Murphy bed was comfier than expected. We especially enjoyed having a kitchen to prepare our own fish at home and eat on the wonderful lanai. Also, very convenient drive to touristy Lahaina and some really great beaches for snorkeling, etc. Would re-visit our recommend to friends and family.

We had a hard time deciding if we should stay at a condo or a hotel as we always have stayed in hotels in the past. We decided on this condo and boy did we make the right decision! We had such a great time. The condo was clean and had everything you needed. Jan is very well organized and sends you all the inforation you need about your stay and what to do or where to eat on the Island. Our view was awesome and we were close to everything. The pool areas were nice and we bbq'ed almost every night. It's a nice quit friendly place to stay and not so busy like the hotels are and you save a ton of money being able to make all your meals if you want. We were worried about the murphy bed but it was very comfortable. All in all, it was a very nice easy place to stay at and we would rent the same room anytime and you should too. Thank you Jan!

My wife and I stayed in Unit 203 for five nights during our recent trip to Hawaii. What a hidden gem. The unit has everything you could possibly want and more. But the best part is the location. You can sleep with the sliders open and listen to the waves as you fall asleep each night. The property itself is quite nice and having the BBQ's out by the pool was great. We give Papakea Unit A203 the highest possible recommendation. We've already spread the word to our friends and family.

Well, we are coming to the end of our 'perfect vacation in paradise'. Thanks to you, it was perfect.

We used Tom's barefoot tours as you suggested, and biked the volcano, enjoyed a sunset cruise, helicopter flight over the island, Oahu and Pearl Harbor, we saw wales, and we just returned from 2 nights in Hana Hale Bay and LOVED it! It couldn't have been more perfect and we thank YOU so much for taking care of us as you have.

This condo has been amazing! The view, the beach, the swimming... what can I say but thank you a million
times!!!!

We ate at many of the places you recommended in your 'tips' and loved
them all.

Anyway, I cannot recommend YOU or this fabulous property enough... If we never make it back to Maui,this will be etched in our memories FOREVER! But I hope we will make it back to Maui and SOON and we will definitely want exactly the same condo!

Jan is a wonderful person and extremely helpful.
My husband and I got married on Maui and her condo A-202 at the Papakea could not have been a more wonderful place to add to the Hawaiian paradise. The view is amazing! Everything is in great shape and there are many items there for you to use.
I do not think I could have chosen a better person to rent from.
I am recommending her to my friends as well as you, the reader of this that are going to Maui.

Thank you for a great stay at Papakea. I stay at Papakea every year and have now discovered A202!! I will always try to book Jan's unit first from now on. It is a great location, view and unit. Nicely done and cared for with everything you need supplied for you. The best part is sitting on the balcony enjoying the sunset every evening and watching for the turtles and dolphins early in the morning. I have already booked for next year and am looking forward to it once again!

Our second stay at the Papakea condo was as terrific as our first. Another enjoyable trip to paradise. We could tell you've done some upgrades to the condo since we were there two years ago--new stove, new washer/dryer, new ceiling fan in the kitchen area, new cushions for the chairs, etc. That all makes the condo even nicer. As last time, the beach towels, coolers, golf putters/balls, etc. are also nice extras that make your condo such a relaxing and easy vacation lodging choice.

And, of course, the view is unbeatable from the lanai of A202! We'd recommend this condo to anybody looking for a quiet condo in a great Maui resort location.

Just wanted to say what a wonderful time we had over Thanksgiving! Papakea is still as beautiful and well kept as it was the first time we came over 20 years ago! And the view from the condo is just incredible--the ocean is so "right there" it's more like being on a cruise ship than watching the waves from the comfort of your living room. Must really be something when the whales are cruising. We would love to come again,

Our family of 8 rented the main house- 3 BR/3BA and enjoyed everything about our stay! I loved to sit out on the deck in the early morning, watching the bay as the day began. The mountains rising up to the east were spectacular. It is far enough away from the town to be quiet and serene, yet close enough for convienent shopping. The location is ideal! For some of us, it was our first trip to Hawaii and will be most memorable!! Mahalo

What a terrific place. Due to a booking error on the part of one Ka’anapali hotel, our group was able to reserve five nights at the Palm House fairly late in the game. In hind sight, we wish we could have stayed the entire duration of our trip here.

The mountainous backdrop and ocean views from the cottage are absolutely spectacular. As we intended to see something new each day, the location provided easy access to the coastal highway and conveniences while being removed enough to provide seclusion and make us feel less like tourists. I only wish we had a bit more time to simply enjoy the home.

Although we never encountered any reason to call, Jan made herself readily available. Directions to and features of the home are thoroughly described. Jan’s suggestions for activities and dining are great as well. We all hope that we have the opportunity to visit once again.

My wife and I, our children and grand daughter just spend a fabulous Thanksgiving at the Palm House. The house and property were even better than described in Jan's communications. The six of us had a ball! The location is ideal- with quick and easy access to the beaches of West and South Maui, and the view from the lanai is breathtaking. My grand daughter and I would get up early every morning- her idea, not mine- and listen to the Minah birds awaken noisily in the trees on the property.
The house is comfortable, has a nice layout and every possible amenity. The kitchen is well stocked- we were able to prepare/serve/eat/clean up after Thanksgiving as if we were in our own home. And just in case we did want for anything, we knew we could call on Jan, who was just a phone call away.
We'll be back!

My husband & I; along with my step daughter, son-in-law and their 2 toddlers recently spent 11 wonderful nights at the Palm House. The views of the ocean, nearby island, whales and rainbows from the wrap around lanai were breath taking. We were in close proximity to Lahaina, beaches, shopping and some night life if you so desired. We grocery shopped and ate more than 85% of our meals at home. Which was a real cost saver and also easier to do with toddlers, 2 & 3-1/2 yrs old. We would definitely stay here again; the trip was incredibly memorable.

We spent 8 fabulous days in the Palm House. The home was beautiful, spacious, clean and well stocked. The view from the deck was spectacular. We were close enough to the ocean to see whales from the deck. Very convenient location. Near Front Street as well as a number of beaches (one right at the end of the development driveway!). Great to have a washer and dryer right at the home! I would definately return to this home on my next Maui visit.

My husband and I stayed for 5 nights in this paradise home. We only wished we had longer. We had very high expectations going there because of all the great comments and pictures. The house and view exceeded our expectations. Jan, you should include a picture of your comfy tub. My husband is 6 foot 6 and the tub fit the two of us comfortably. The house was immaculate and the extra's were appreciated (CD for the road to Hana, cooler). We will definitely stay here again. Jan's introduction to Maui was used very extensively. We planned our whole vacation with the information she sent. We set up a snorkeling trip through the Tom Barefoot Company she recommended. Andreas recommended a different boat than the one we were going to use. Good thing, it was the better choice. This was by far the best vacation and place we have ever stayed at. Beats crowded hotels and resorts. Jan, thanks so much for all you do and did to make our vacation so wonderful. Keep up the great work.

My 2 sisters (and husbands) from Florida & Iowa met here in October 09 for a week; we were in the 2 bedroom palmhouse and the adjacent 1 bedroom that had the interconnecting door. The accommodations were perfect for the 6 of us for gathering in the evenings for dinner and conversation. Our place was beautiful--we had everything we needed including the most marvelous view. We spent 2 weeks at Palm House in late November. There were 3 couples and we had plenty of space and privacy. The views from the balconies were exceptional. The house was clean and very comfortable. We used a few of the suggestions that Jan provided in her information package and enjoyed each of them.

My family of 6 adults (ages 27-54) all enjoyed our week spent here in mid October 2010. While there we met with friends at their timeshare in Kaanapali and another couple who opted for a hotel in Lahaina. Our stay at the Palm House was by far the most relaxing and comfortable accommodation. The spectacular sunset and mountain views were beyond my expectations. I
was sooo happy to find a place in West Maui without a hotel/apartment building/golf course in sight! We experienced ideal peace & quiet during our stay (that is when we weren't out & about). In a location like that my family would have been
happy with the bare minimum, but the house itself was great! Not ultra luxury and modern, but very comfortable and inviting-like being at home. The deck was great, but as it was the Giants in the World Series, my family's favorite feature became the spacious living room w/ HD TV and open kitchen :) The seemingly small convenience of having the use of beach chairs/mats, coolers, umbrella, etc. from the house really added to our experience more than I thought it would. It's
been a few yrs since I've ditched the hotels for private properties for family vacations. I am thrilled to say the Palm House stands up there with all the other great homes we've discovered! Happy to recommend it to others. Pics coming to tripadvisor soon!

we enjoyed our stay at J104. Of particular benefit was having the STAR grocery and ABC store within a short walking distance. When we arrived, we purchased groceries and had breakfast in the condo daily, without having the expense of eating out. We also lunched at the condo on several days and it was nice having a fully furnished kitchen and a start up supply of paper products...thank you! The close proximity of the pool and hot tub were wonderful ....yet just off the path to afford some serenity. Papakea is a nice complex for families; we did not encounter any problems at all. The unit was clean and comfortable. We particularly loved having the washer and dryer...having stayed 5 days earlier on Oahu, it was nice to launder our clothes while enjoying the relaxation of the condo amenities. thank you!

My family enjoyed our best vacation yet at this beautiful and conveniently located 2 bedroom condo in Papakea. J- 104 is the perfect place to stay to really get the most of the Island. We found ourselves so close to everything we wanted; beaches, great restaurants, hotels, Front Street, and tons of shopping. Everything anyone could ever need is either in the condo or a few steps away at one of the near by shops.

The condo itself was perfect for us. We enjoyed coffee on the patio every morning and getting a first look at the ocean. The rooms are spacious and clean and all amenities are provided.

The location is truly superior for convenience. We managed to hit a different beach everyday. With 2 infants, we found this location to be ideal in terms of safety and convenience.

Jan is an owner’s owner. She is amazing providing virtually anything you need to complete your vacation and have the experience exceed your expectations. She has her heart invested in your stay and she went to great lengths to assure our stay was perfect. When I return to Papakea it will not be on my schedule, rather it will be when this unit is available again.

12/20/09 to 12/31/09 we Stay in J104 For the christmas season this year we have two children and found the condo to be perfect for us. it had all the amenities of home, from toys for the beach to a smoothie maker. The best part is it's situated on the ground floor so our kids to run back and forth from the pool or golf course without the use of stairs. It was nice having a condo on the first floor, easy access to pool, office, parking, etc. The condo had everything you could want from beach towels, a golf club, golf balls, boogie boards, to sand toys if you had youngsters. Also Jan, the owner, was available to help in any way she could. We would recommend this to anyone wanting to stay in Maui at an affordable price, and would stay here again if we get a chance to return.

We spent a terrific July week at Papakea in J-104, and it set a standard for what we will expect from now on. The ground floor condo is ideally suited for a family with kids (as we do) who can run out onto the grassy lawn and play or visit the koi pond while we prepare meals and such. The condo is stocked with everything we needed from kitchen through leisure equipment (pails, shovels, boogie boards etc). Jan ensured we were informed of all the best current options for dining, beaches and shopping,
as well as general interest activities, and is accessible if needed. The condo is comfortable, relaxing, well located, and highly recommended.

Our first trip to Maui - where to stay? We're so glad we went with Papakea J-104. It was roomy and comfortable. Not
so fancy that you felt like you had to walk on your tip toes, but comfortable. Beds and living room furniture are comfortable also. At first I didn't think I'd like staying on the first floor, but now I am SO glad we did. We could walk out the patio door; look at the koi pond with an amazing assortment of water lilies within steps of our place, and walk to the ocean and pool. If we come back to Maui, we will stay here. (And I hope we do.)

Aloha Jan. Just wanted to comment on your wonderful condo. It offered everything we could ever expect. It was a perfect place to base our island holiday from. We had 12 days to explore the islands and truly appreciate Maui in particular. Every area and resort we saw did not compare to what we had offered to us at Papakes. Our stay February 22 to March 10 was excellent. The weather was perfect, the whales playful and plentiful, and the condo very comfortable. We have visited Papakea many times and plan to return next year - the experience and Aloha is unbeatable.

Our family stayed at Papakea Resort from March 20-27th,2009. The resort itself is beautiful, lush gardens, pools, hot tubs, putting greens etc.Jan has gone out of her way to make the unit perfect. It is very clean,comfortable and very well stocked with linens, dishes,beach towels,coolers and so on. It has everything a family could need. The view from the lanai is amazing, it is truly the best of both(ocean and garden) we loved watching the whales while relaxing outside. Jan's Maui ToDo list was so helpful!!!We referred to it time and time again. Our teens loved the lofted area. They really enjoyed having their own space and t.v. we used one of the nights for a nice evening BBQ. I highly recommend this property and look forward to going back
to Maui.

We stayed at Papakea C-402 over the Christmas break and were very pleased with the accommodation! The grounds at Papakea are beautiful and the view from the fourth floor is stunning. The kitchen has everything you need to cook some great meals, and there are also beach chairs, coolers, towels, sand toys, etc. for spending the day comfortably on the beach in and around Ka'anapali. During the evenings, our 3 kids enjoyed hanging out in the loft, and us parents enjoyed some quieter time on the lanai. This is a great family unit. Wish we could have stayed longer! Mahalo, Jan.

My teenage kids and I greatly enjoyed our stay at Papakea C-402 in mid-June. The condo overlooked the beautiful grounds and ocean, and had everything we needed for a wonderful holiday. I will definitely contact Jan again about accommodations on our next trip to Maui.

Enjoyed our vacation in Papakea unit C402. Great loft perfect for entire family and nice hideaway for the kids. Always a cool breeze through the unit, didn't even need the AC. Nice beaches, swam with dolphins at Black Rock! Recommended for any West Maui vacation. Thanks!
