LR 311 was our home away from home and at the end of each day when we returned after many wonderful adventures exploring the Island our condo was a welcome and wonderful retreat. The view was absolutely amazing and we had many sunset dinners on the Lanai. Jan was always there letting us know if there was anything we needed all we had to was call. The condo is so clean and comfy and has everything one needs and more. It was perfection. We are going back next year. Can't wait. We saw whales from day one and turtles every day of our stay. The grounds were well maintained. The condo was clean and the layout perfect. Recommendation: rent a car, as the property is, in my view, just out of comfortable walking range to downtown Lahaina. Safeway and Longs Drug are in easy walking range. This condo has air conditioning in both the living room and bedroom; this is a feature not found in all Lahaina Roads units. |

The Queen bed is very comfortable and super easy to put up and down. It was nice to be able to walk to a couple of restaurants and some shopping too. The resort was very nice as well. One pool is heated the other is not, glad we overheard this on our second day or we would not have known. We hope to come back some day..... |

I can't express enough how lucky we were to find this condo right on the beach! Every morning we had breakfast on the lanai as well as most of our dinners watching the sunset. Right on famous Front Street yet feels very private and secluded. Lovely flower, plants,and tiki torches on the grounds; as well as club house with shelves of books to borrow. Within walking distance to resturants, shopping, and cocktails. Covered parking and relaxing pool that was cleaned daily. Truly a dream come true place to stay!! It was our first time there, and I think we were lucky to find such a great condo in such a great location. Plus the view was fabulous! We watched the sea turtles from our lanai, enjoyed the close snorkeling beaches, and spending time walking through the shops right down the road in Lahaina. When we return, we will definitely remember this condo, and will definitely return. |

This ideally located condo has everything a vacationing couple could ask for. Jan has a studio unit that is located in the best part of a beautifully manicured condo complex that puts you close to everything happening in and around West Maui. We were first-time visitors to Maui, and first-time users of a vacation condo. It won’t be the last. Every picture we saw online was true to life. The bed was comfortable and easy to use, as advertised. Every description about what was in the condo was accurate, with plenty of stock household items available until you have time to get across to Times Market. The WiFi works well, we were able to use an iPad to call up our home TV over the Internet to watch the game live, and to Skype the grandkids. Booking this little slice of heaven was as gentle as the light Kona winds that were blowing throughout our stay. Jan provides very detailed information up front about how things work at Papakea, as well as a Maui to-do list which assisted with our trip planning. We were able to do all of the first-time-to-Maui stuff like Haleakala, the Road to Hana, the Four Winds II to Molokini, UFO Parasailing, and a luau. Mama’s Fish House provided a meal that holds memories for a lifetime. We also had plenty of time to just relax, going up and down the West coast to the beaches. I have to mention Fish Market Maui, across the Lower Road, where they have the best Fish Sandwich on the planet. It is NOT a Filet-O-Fish! The fresh herbed bun and carmelized sweet Maui onions would be good BEFORE adding the grilled to perfection Ono. We ate there 3 out of 7 days. I love arroz, and who would have thought that I would find the best prepared arroz at Ohana Tacos? Moist, yet light and fluffy. The things that cannot be related in a review note are the intense colors and dramatic changes in a sunset. Or, the majestic roar of the rolling waves as they hit the reef before they finish the journey to the sea wall. Both of which every reader of this will experience if they decide to take our advice and find a way to experience Maui as soon as they can, and as often as they can. Experience it in style and comfort at Papakea, with Jan’s superb hosting. |

Papakea is in a fantastic location, the grounds are always beautiful and well kept & this condo is in the very best building! It was close to everything we wanted to see. The place was clean and very updated. The A/C was wonderful as well!! Jan recommended Andreas at Barefoot for booking tours, and I highly recommend him as well! He went above and beyond to help us book our snorkeling and dolphin tour to Lanai! (We waited too long to book it and then had to hunt for availability.) It was an awesome tour!! Thank you for sharing your wonderful accomodations with us! |

It was the perfect unit to use as our home base and included everything we required. Being newly remodeled it was immaculate inside and also has a location and rental price that is hard to beat. The building and grounds were well taken care of by a very attentive Caretaker. We would not hesitate to stay here again if the opportunity arises and have recommended this unit to many of our friends. A big thanks also to Jan for her incredible hospitality and unbelievable assistance regarding restaurants, sightseeing, rentals, etc.. Listen to Jan as her recommendations and advice were spot on. It is well appointed, fully equiped, peaceful and the ocean/mountain views more than amazing. Your activity list was comprehensive and your contacts provided excellent service. The Saturday Farmers Market just down the road provided fresh produce, as did all of the trees planted on the property, and the Olawalu fruit stand was also convienent. MaLa Ocean Tavern is a must visit restaurant, reservations necessary. This is the place for privacy and easy access to all activities and sites Maui has to offer.Maui No Ka Oi, Kathy |

It was great and included numerous supplies including detergent and dryer sheets for the washer and dryer in the unit. The bath and kitchen were updated and there was lots of room. The condo was immaculate, well furnished including laundry machines, all kitchen appliances and tools. We even made use of the huge BBQs by the pool. Parking lot was near the manager’s office which gave added security for our car along with camera surveillance. Be sure to bring your binoculars. The view from the lanai was breathtaking while eating meals, watching the whales, dolphins, turtles, boats and surfers paddling their way across the sunset. Be sure to check the fridge and cupboards before buying groceries. It will save you a few $$. Don’t forget to give your phone # at the grocery store, you’ll save even more |

Jan was great and delivered a foam bed topper for the master king which made a big difference! Unit is nicely appointed and clean and loft offered additional room and privacy for when our son and girlfriend joined us after first week. Did not have to run A/C at all due to nice front to back breeze between lanai and master windows. Very private, quiet location with great views of grounds, pool and ocean (and tons of whales), and close to lots of walking distance markets and amenities. Enjoyed the free wifi, tennis courts and gas grills around pool area. Have booked again for 2 weeks Xmas 2012 - can't wait. |

The resort is very low key and family oriented. Everyone gets to know each other around dinner time at the pool and the 6 grills that surround it. It's like social hour. The grass lawn goes right up the the edge of the beach and they have lounge chairs to watch the whales or sunset or just relax. The accommodations have everything you need. Excellent first floor location with Koi pond right in front of your lanai. Our group of 4 was very comfortable. It's not luxurious...it just feels like home. And Jan, the owner, is wonderful to work with. You will be happy with your decision to rent this unit unless you like crowded, rowdy resorts. Papakea is the exact opposite. Hawaii at its finest. |

Within walking distance to groceries, restaurants and all the action on Front St. Every morning we would have breakfast on the lanai and watch the whales and turtles! The unit itself is very nice, the new kitchen is great (especially for those who like to cook). We were there for 14 nights and we slept in the murphy bed every day so we could fall asleep to the sound of the ocean. We didn't even make it to the master bedroom (which by the way is also very nice). I couldn't recommend a better place to say, we can't wait to go back! Thanks for everythingCory Loreth |

The ABC market had some great souvenirs that actually were just as well priced as the swap meet we drove over to on Saturday on the other side of the island. Snorkel Bob's, also within walking distance, was very helpful and supplied us with great equipment for the week. We had contacts through friends at home to set up activities; however, Andreas with Tom's Barefoot Tours was able to get us the best price on all the activies we wanted to do: zipline, Luau, biking, etc. The condo on the ground floor was great with kids....easy access in and out to get to the pool and beach. I would probably stay higher up if it was just adults trying to relax. Stopping at Costco and WalMart when we first arrived saved us a lot on food. The grills at the pool were great and we used them several times. Thanks Jan! |

The condo was very clean, well stocked and offered GREAT sunsets. Papakea is within 5 miles of the BEST Maui snorkeling spots, grocery stores, banks and snorkel rental within walking distance, and yes McDonalds ( for little kids ) and yet out of the crowded mob areas. Papakea has very well manicured lawns and offers and abundance of cook out grills. If you want to save money and still have a great place, Papakea is for you. Mahalo |

Your 2bdrm condo was the perfect set up. my daughter loved the loft and had a blast on the spiral stairs. She felt like she had her own privacy. The Ohana had just as gorgeous views as the Ocean Cottage and was perfect for just the two of us! I think we literally spent at least 4 days just "being" and not going or doing anything but sitting on the front lanai enjoying the sweeping view of the ocean, Lahaina, Lana'i and Moloka'i. When the sun warmed up the front of the cottage in the afternoon we moved to the rear lanai and enjoyed watching the light play off of the beautiful West Maui Mountains! We truly feel blessed to have been so lucky to have found this wonderful piece of paradise away from the crowds and tourist areas. Marty and I can't wait to come back and be your guests again. We just relaxed and enjoyed the view from the lanai waking up each morning for the sunrise and returning in the evening for a beautiful sunset. And there was the full moon the first night.The trade winds provided a breeze to keep the place cool. We ate many of our meals at home and could invite family to come by and have dinner grilled outside. Everything in the apartment was comfortable and in good shape. I would definitely recommend the Ohana or any place in that West Maui area. It is convenient, close to a nice beach(es) and a quick drive into LaHaina or further North, |

At the end of each day, the kids couldn't wait to "go home"! We also enjoyed having a kitchen with coffee maker and toaster for breakfast, and the BBQ grill for dinner in the evening while watching the sun set. I used to live in Lahaina 23 years ago and how nice it was to be welcomed back to this beautiful place by staying in such wonderful accommodations. I had been bragging about Maui for years to my husband, who I finally got out there after a year in Kuwait... He agrees - Maui No Ka Oi!!! We loved the view and the fact that we felt as we lived there instead of being tourists. As others have said - perfect spot... close enough to town but far removed from the crazed tourism of "hotel row" in Kaanapali. Thank you for stocking the cottage ahead of time - it really made our arrival so relaxing :) Can't WAIT to come back!!! ~ Suz |

The views from the wrap around porch and every room are magnificent. The cottage is exactly as portrayed in the VRBO photos and was neat and clean upon our arrival. We loved the privacy of the location and it was amazing to actually "live" in a very upscale Lahaina neighborhood. Within a day we had our routine down, breakfast on the deck, pack a picnic lunch, visit and relax at a different beach every day, then home to refresh ourselves and off to dinner at one of the many in town or barbeque at "home." We wish we could afford to never leave and will definitely rent a West Maui Cottage on our next trip to Maui. Thanks Jan for your kind hospitality. |

The view is second to none, the beds are extremely comfortable, the cottage is very spacious and kept immaculate. It was a truly beautiful, comfortable and convenient place to stay outside busy Lahaina. Just the right distance for daily/evening activity, but out of the main stream. We loved whale watching from the deck, the crazy birds and lovely flowers, as well as viewing the fabulous rainbows over the mountains several times daily. We did do some sightseeing and touring Maui and our son took some scuba trips, but the best was just enjoying the views and solitude from the cottage. What a fabulous treat you have there! I USUALLY DO NOT CHOOSE TO JUST SIT AROUND MUCH AS I ENJOY BEING BUSY DOING THE BEACHES, SIGHTSEEING AND SO ON BUT ON THIS PARTICULAR VACATION I FOUND THAT FOR A FEW OF THE DAYS I WAS VERY CONTENT TO SIT AND ENJOY THE VIEW AND THE SUN ON THE DECK, BBQ A COUPLES OF MEALS AND JUST SIMPLY RELAX. HOPEFULLY THIS CAN HAPPEN AGAIN BEFORE I RETIRE JUST TO ENJOY IT ONE MORE TIME. THANKS AGAIN FOR THE LITERATURE YOU SUPPLIED AS IT WAS VERY USEFUL. |
| Gwen on 2011-04-02 07:34:08 ALOHA JAN – We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Maui, and most especially the 3 weeks we spent at your 2B, 2B cottage. It was an ideal place for us to come home to every evening after a busy day AND relax on the deck, barb-b-q, watch the sun set right in front of us over the ocean! It was very neat to see the cruise ships lit up at night & the lights in Lahaina from the deck. We really liked the big kitchen (farm style) and rooms. AND to relax & enjoy the Jacuzzi tub each evening before bed was a special treat for me. AND then to wake up to the sound of birds singing and walk out onto the Lanai with its expansive ocean view & read, eat breakfast and then go for a morning walk in the hills, which we loved. We thank Dale for helping us get booked into any tour our hearts desired, and I can’t thank Marilyn enough for taking us hiking into the Launiupoko Valley behind us. The valley behind us was so beautiful & we had a rainbow almost every day! If we ever return, we would definitely stay there again, as I just can’t say enough good things about it. Again, it was all so beautiful, and we have so many wonderful memories of the island. MahaloGwen |
